Welcome to the Securities Processing section of this Learning Center. Through its suite of Securities Processing services The Depository Trust Company (DTC) provides its participant firms a range of safekeeping and processing services for various types of securities. Securities Processing services deliver efficient and cost-effective solutions for deposits, withdrawals, electronic direct registration and custody.
Securities Processing Application
The Depository Trust Company’s (DTC’s) Securities Processing Application or “SPA” is a unified platform from which Participants and Transfer Agents can manage securities inventory held on their behalf at the depository. Upon completion of its phased development, it will include functionality for managing electronic deposits and withdrawals, direct registration transactions, and centralized billing activities all in one system application.

SPA for Participants
DTC Particpants can access the following functionality:
- Deposit Withdrawal at Custodian (DWAC) - Deposits and withdrawals instructions
- Direct Registration Service (DRS)- Profile Requests Deposits, Withdrawal by Transfer (Targeted Deposit and Withdrawals PSE and Prod releases througout 2025)
- Maker-Checker - Secondary "Four Eyes" approval for DWAC and DRS intructions. (Targeted DRS Billing PSE and Prod releases througout 2025)
- Physical Inventory Inquiry.
Transfer Agents
FAST Agents can access the following functionality.
- FAST Balance Confirmation - FAST Agents confirm daily eod balances with DTC.
- Deposit Withdrawal at Custodian (DWAC) - Agents approve or reject deposits and withdrawl instructions
- Centralized Billing - Agents set up fees in one place which are then applied to DWAC and DRS transactions and charged to participants. (Targeted PSE and Prod releases througout 2025)
- Maker-Checker - Secondary "Four Eyes" approval for DWAC and DRS instructions and Centralized Billing Fees. (Targeted DRS Billing PSE and Prod releases througout 2025)
