What is UWC?
Underwriting Central (UWC) is a new application with incremental release of new functionalities. It enables clients to submit Retail CDs for eligibility using the electronic certificate model, as well as create MMI programs and utilize our Rapid Issuance service.

- UWC introduces the use of electronic certificates, replacing physical master certificates. UWC enables brokers to enter security information into the application, and once finalized, the broker can systemically generate electronic master CDs and direct them to the appropriate contact at the issuer using DocuSign.
- Once the issuer electronically signs the master certificate, DTCC stores the electronic certificate in an electronic vault.
- The UWC application integrates data validation, electronic vaulting, and e-signatures to create a better experience for brokers and issuers. It improves upon UW Source with a more streamlined user interface, fewer operational touch-points, improved data quality, and added transparency into the DTC eligibility life cycle.
- The addition of MMI Program creation and maintenance to the Underwriting Central (UWC) application is in PSE testing with clients July 2024 - January 2025 and in Production February 2025.
- Our Rapid Issuance service has also been introduced and is expected to go live in February 2026.
