Creating or Editing Broker Matching Groups
A maker or admin can create and edit BRMGs:
- The purpose of create is to make a new BRMG.
- The purpose of edit is to update an existing BRMG. You can inspect previous versions on the Broker Matching History page.
Regardless of whether you are creating or editing, the organization of information on the page and the process you follow are the same.
To create or edit a BRMG:
- Navigate to the BRMG Home page.
- Click Create Group.
Specify the general information for the BRMG (such as the code and the name) in the BRMG Details section. Information on the BRMG can be added in the Description field.
- Specify the broker organizations that are part of the BRMG in the Member Brokers section. There are two ways to find broker organizations in the Available column:
- Scroll through the list.
- Enter the organization name, acronym, or BIC code in the Search field and click Search.
- Move broker organizations from the Available column to the Selected column.
- Click the Create if you are creating, or the Save if you are editing.
If the data is valid, the tool creates/updates the group and returns you to the BRMG Home page.
The values you enter in the BRMG Details section help users to understand the purpose of the BRMG.
Note: You enter the BRMG Code when creating a BRMG. But if you later edit the BRMG, you cannot change the BRMG Code (the field is read-only on the BRMG Edit Page).
Field | Value |
---|---|
BRMG Code | Enter a short or abbreviated version of the BRMG Name or pneumonic for the BRMG name. The Code can be a maximum of 34 characters. Best practice is to use upper case for BRMG codes. |
BRMG Name | Enter the full name of the group. |
Description | Enter an optional explanation for the intended use of the group. |
Note: Before adding your broker organizations, you can verify broker names, acronyms, or BICs.
To add brokers to the BRMG:
-
Select one or more organizations from the Available Brokers list.
Note: By adding a broker organization, all broker acronyms and BICs associated with that organization become part of your BRMG.
- Click the right arrow icon to move those brokers to the Selected Brokers lists.
Using View Only Broker, investment managers that use BRMGs can allow their brokers visibility into trades that they alleged against those broker/dealers.
To setup a View Only Broker in BRMG:
- Log into the Dashboard and click BRMG Tool.
- In the resulting BRMG Home page, ensure the value in the Status field is ACTIVE, and click Search.
- From the resulting list of BRMGs, click Expand next to a BRMG Code, which displays the Broker selected to view alleged trades area above the Broker List. Then, click Edit.
- In the resulting BRMG Edit Page, select a broker from the Available View Only Brokers list box and move it into the Selected View Only Broker list box.
When you select the View Only Broker, the following guidelines apply:
- The Available View Only Brokers list displays View Only Brokers only.
- You can add only one View Only Broker to a BRMG.
- You cannot add the same View Only Broker to multiple BRMGs. DTCC enforces a 1:1 relationship between a View Only Broker and a BRMG.
- Click Save.
The setup is complete; no other changes or updates are required. Upon trade submission, CTM requires that you supply the BIC of the View Only Broker in the BRMG for the Executing Broker field.
