Standard and Accelerated Settlement Cycles
The one-day review period allows ACATS to complete a full transfer in as few as four days. The settlement cycle can be shortened by an additional day if the receiver submits an acceleration request on the same day the deliverer enters the assets.
After the delivering firm submits the assets, the receiver might accelerate the transaction, which would result in a settlement two days later. After the receiver submits an acceleration request, it is deemed as the final approval from the receiver. The deliverer cannot make any additional adjustments to the transfer in subsequent cycles.
If a deliverer makes an adjustment in the same cycle that a receiver accelerates a transfer, ACATS honors the deliverer adjustment and rejects the receiver acceleration. The receiver can resubmit the acceleration to expedite the transfer.
