Partial Transfer Deliverer (PTD)

A partial transfer deliverer (PTD) is a request initiated by the deliverer. If the receiver validates the PTD (the receiver does not reject it), the assets settle the next business day. However, if the PTD contains a mutual fund or option asset, it settles in two business days.

Gift/Donation Indicator for PTDs

A PTD transfer is often used for gifts or donations of securities or cash. The Gift/Donation indicator tells the receiver of a PTD that the transfer is a gift or donation. This information helps the receiving firm identify the correct receiving customer account on its side. Before this indicator existed, the receiving firm could not tell if the assets should be received into a like account on the receiver’s side, or should they be booked into a third party’s account.

The values for the field are:

• 0–Transfer is not a gift or donation.
• 1–Transfer is a gift or donation.
