ALERT: How Data Validation Works

ALERT validates each new or updated settlement instruction data field against one or more data validation rules. If a data value does not pass validation, ALERT returns an error and the new or updated data value is not saved.

When you save or upload a settlement instruction, ALERT validates the data values in all of the settlement instruction fields. The validation ensures that the fields of the settlement instructions contain only valid data.

Validation of settlement instructions takes place in the ALERT host database. If one or more validation errors occur, ALERT immediately displays an error.

You must resolve all reported validation errors before you can create or update settlement instruction fields. DTCC recommends that when an error window displays, you correct all errors and then try again to create or save the settlement instructions. Repeat the cycle as many times as necessary to validate your data successfully.
